As crews continue their work on The Terraces at Westhills, an extension of the Westhills campus that will consist of 36 homes in southern Rapid City, we are excited to share updates on this exciting project that will expand elevated living options for seniors in the Black Hills.
Setting the Stage for What’s Next
The Terraces broke ground in early 2025 and are expected to be completed in three phases. The first phase, which includes soil testing, drainage planning, and utility installation, is nearing completion.
“We are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel with all the preliminary work that has occurred,” Director of Project Development Daryl Reinicke shared.
Recently, work has begun on a retaining wall on the north side of the property. Onsite, utilities are being placed, and very shortly, water and sewer work will follow.
Floor plans are also now in the process of being finalized, along with interior and exterior renderings, landscaping layouts, and product and equipment planning.
On the Horizon
As we transition into the warmer months in the Black Hills, work on The Terraces continues to gain momentum. Beginning in May, there will be a focus on the Master Schedule that includes sequencing and timetables. After that, bidding will be finalized, and construction can begin.
“This has been a great project, and we are looking forward to providing more details in the near future,” Reinicke said.
Throughout the duration of the project, the Westhills Village team will remain focused on maintaining a safe and efficient building process for current and future residents, contractors and subcontractors, and the Rapid City community at large. Please stay tuned for future updates about the progress on The Terraces at Westhills.
